Drivers Education Parent Meeting

Drivers Education -
Spring/Summer 2026

Drivers Education Parent Course

This 90-minute course is designed for parents or guardians who will serve as the primary driving supervisor for their teen. You’ll learn about Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) laws, teen driving risks, and how your guidance can keep your teen safe on the road. This course helps parents understand their responsibilities, supports effective teen driving supervision, and ensures compliance with Minnesota state requirements.

  • Included with student tuition at no extra cost if your teen registers with drivers education through Thief River Falls Community Education.
  • Driving log requirements:
    • With course completion: 40 hours of supervised driving, including 15 hours at night
    • Without course completion: 50 hours, including 15 hours at night
  • Certificate of Completion: Provided upon finishing the class; required before your teen can take the driver’s test if less than 50 hours are logged.
